It’s hard to remember when airports did not mean disrobing at security or when it wasn’t de rigueur to carry a Starbucks in one hand and text with the other. Yet color-coded security, designer coffee and cell phone addiction all developed post 2000.
The Associated Press compiled a list of “50 things that changed our lives in the aughts” including book clubs, crocs (and Uggs), Facebook, and reality TV.
What’s somewhat disturbing is how many “things” that developed over the last decade are now entrenched parts of our daily lives: DVRs, Ipods, GPS, Google, text messaging. What would happen if we suddenly had to remember phone numbers again or couldn’t read email during boring meetings? Make us wonder what the next decade will bring that we can’t live without!
